There is no one like our God

There is no one like the God of Israel. He rides across the heavens to help you, across the skies in majestic splendor. The eternal God is your refuge, and His everlasting arms are under you. ~Deuteronomy 33:26-27 (NLT)

What a wonderful promise that God rides across the heavens to help us.  Scripture teaches He is our refuge and strength.  You and I run out of energy.  We grow weary.  We lose heart, but God never does.  The Everlasting God does not faint or grow weary and when we call out to Him, He renews our strength and revives our hope.  We are told in Habukkuk 3:19 “The Sovereign Lord is my strength; He makes my feet like the feet of a deer, He enables me to tread on the heights.” (NIV)  Do you feel this way about your God?  Maybe you do today, maybe you are soaring in life, or maybe you are barely hanging in there.  Either way, we have to remember our feelings are fickle.  They tell us one thing one minute and something completely different the next.  We should question why we feel the way we do regularly.  Our feelings or emotions are affected by our sleep, our diet, our habits, and a myriad of other influences.  We can even listen to a song and get happy or sad.  We need to remember that in this inconsistent life where changing things up is the order of the day, that we are going to be bombarded by influences both positive and negative.  When things seem to go south our thoughts must rest in the fact that our God is our refuge and His everlasting arms are holding us up.

What we allow our thoughts to rest on will determine our course in life because our thoughts influence our emotions and e-motions are there to move us in one direction or another.  Have you noticed when you focus on the things that are hurting you in life for long enough you start saying and doing hurtful things to others?   Maybe you are focused on what someone has done to someone else, and then you begin to hurt for that person, so you take that hurt into yourself.  The more you focus on it the more you project it.  That is the enemy who comes against your mind by influencing your thoughts that cause you to focus on what He wants you to focus on so that He can get you moving and doing things that He wants you to do.  Strife and discord are what tears us down but love and compassion will build us up.  It takes skill to build people up.  You have to walk in love to the point that you aren’t influenced by other’s actions or the enemy’s onslaught throughout the day.  When problems or concerns or the struggles of life start to weigh you down remember everything you see is temporary.  But God is eternal.  He is the beginning and the end, the Alpha and Omega.  He is not constrained by time, money, or even other people’s cooperation.  In God’s economy there is no lack of resources.  You have everything you need to be a witness to His goodness and love by being good and loving no matter what hits the fan today.  Trust in the Lord’s ability and desire to meet every need in His time and according to His resources, not yours.  His everlasting arms are under you, and He is an ever-present help in trouble.  You can walk in victory over your circumstances and emotions, you just need to make that choice.  Greater things are yet to come and greater things are still going to be done in our lives and in the lives of our loved ones.  We can count on it!

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.  Therefore we will not fear. ~Psalm 46:1-2 (KJV)
