Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ [give yourself up to Him, take yourself out of your own keeping and entrust yourself into His keeping] and you will be saved. ~Acts 16:31 (AMPCE)
Scripture teaches that to believe in Jesus is to trust Him by taking ourselves out of our own keeping and putting ourselves into His keeping. To do this is an act of our will and to be honest it can sometimes be very difficult. Our human nature is geared for independence and control, watching any 2-year-old child will confirm that. But these desires are more often than not based on our fears. We fear that God will not take care of us the way we want or give us what we want so we revert back to caring for ourselves, not entrusting ourselves to His keeping. God wants us to trust Him with every area of our lives, especially those difficult areas where we are not quite sure if it will go our way if we let go. The truth is, when we don’t let go of our self-will and we continue to live within our own abilities and understanding we remain chained to our own perspective. God want us to live in the supernatural. He wants to give us His wisdom and understanding. He says in Ephesians 2:6-7 “it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus…” (NIV) If you have accepted Jesus as your Savior you are seated with Him high above the common understanding and circumstances of this world. You have been restored to a right relationship with God in Him, you are an overcomer in Him, and you have everything you need In Him. The bible teaches that born again believers are a whole new being with privileges and abilities unknown before Christ Jesus came. We should be living in the light of that truth.
Our feeble minds have a hard time understanding God’s perspective, but we catch glimpses as we take a risk and trust Him by doing life His way instead of our own. When we pray and leave our anxieties with Him and choose to rest that He is working everything out for our good, we have peace. There is no better way to live than by peace. I am sure there are people all over the world wondering how God is going to turn their circumstances out for their good. But God promises He will, and the truth is the more we wonder, the less we trust and the more we try to do it ourselves. But the doing is not our part. Our part is to trust Him and let Him work His plan for us…His plan, not ours. God is working His plan every day, but sometimes we need to step out of His way! When we finally do step out of His way, He opens doors no man can shut and shuts doors no man can open. Do you need any doors opened right now? How about any shut? Always remember that the God who holds the universe together is more than capable of holding your life together. It’s time we take ourselves out of our own keeping and trust Him to be Lord of the outcome!
“To whom will you compare me? Or who is my equal?” says the Holy One. “Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.” ~Isaiah 40:25-26 (NIV)
In what areas of your life could you use the Lord working in right now? Have you prayed and committed the outcome to Him by resting in His promises?
