Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago. ~Isaiah 25:1 (NIV)
Life is meant to be handled one day at a time. We are told in the first verse of Isaiah 25 that God is the master planner, and all of our lives are in His hands. We may not understand everything, but it is not God’s perspective that is skewed, it is always ours. Our inability to see from God’s angle puts us in the precarious position of trusting God in what seems like the worst possible circumstances knowing by faith in His word that He is working everything together for the good of those who love Him. Living by faith is not as easy as it sounds. Swallowing our pride and submitting to God being the creator and maintainer of this universe can sometimes be difficult, but the truth is that it is our only real option. In Isaiah 55:8 God tells us “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord.” (NIV) Have you ever thought that if you were God you wouldn’t have allowed something to happen or you would have stepped in and made something else happen? Those are usually the times that our circumstances have pricked our emotions and instead of seeking God's comfort we start seeking answers that we may never find.
Rarely do we meet someone with the faith to say, “my life is in Gods hand, come what may”. I have had the benefit of knowing that kind of person all of my life and if he wasn’t walking with our Lord right now, he would remind me today that God has demonstrated His faithfulness time and time again. He would tell me that God is with us in everything, and our lives are in His hands and our times are for Him to determine. He would tell me that God is the master planner of our lives, just like His word says, and we must trust in Him and be committed to His purposes on this earth whatever tomorrow may bring. In Matthew 6:34 Jesus tells us “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (NIV) Every one of us can relate to the fact that each day has enough trouble for us to deal with without going into what tomorrow can bring. Sometimes tomorrow brings sunshine and sometimes tomorrow brings rain. But God is still the same. He is still on the throne, and He supersedes us on so many levels we cannot comprehend His ways, but we can be sure of His love and confident in His promises to us. The Lord tells us in Isaiah 43 “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you. I have called you by name; you are mine. When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you. For I am the Lord, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.” (NLT) God says come what may, He will be with us. He says don’t worry about how you are going to make it through tomorrow. One day at a time is good enough for Him.
Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you. ~1 Peter 5:7 (NIV)
