Give God the reins

I will cry to God Most High, Who performs on my behalf and rewards me [Who brings to pass His purposes for me and surely completes them]! ~Psalm 57:2 (AMPCE)

When we truly worship and cry out to God it must be with all we have.  God says to love Him with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our strength and with all our mind in Luke 10:27, Matthew 22:37, Deuteronomy 6:5 and Mark 12:30.  Notice how many times these words are repeated in scripture!  Could it be this repetition is for emphasis?  No doubt!   The Lord tells us to meditate on His word in Deuteronomy 11:18 saying “Fix these words of mine in your hearts and minds; tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.” (NIV)  The word of God is the will of God and Jesus said that to love God with all our heart, soul, strength and mind is the greatest commandment that our heavenly Father has given us.  Do you love the Lord that way?  Do your actions reveal that you love the Lord that way?  Our actions reveal that we love God with everything we have when we choose to love others with everything we have.  The Lord tells us in 1 John 4:20 If anyone boasts, “I love God,” and goes right on hating his brother or sister, thinking nothing of it, he is a liar. If he won’t love the person he can see, how can he love the God he can’t see? The command we have from Christ is blunt: Loving God includes loving people. You’ve got to love both.” (MSG)

When we live to love, we have confidence before God.  He tells us in 1 John 3 to not merely say we love each other but to show it with our actions.  He says our actions will show that we belong to the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before God.  Do you feel confident in God’s presence?  When you open your bible or hear a sermon do you feel assured of God’s love towards you, or do you feel condemned?   God knows if we are loving Him and others with our entire being or half-hearted and half-hearted, He says, just isn’t going to cut it.  Jesus tells us in Revelation 3:16 “So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.” (NIV)  Love has an aroma that will fill a room.  Love causes darkness to turn to light.  Love brings wholeness, healing and refreshing on any scene because God is love!  The presence of God will only come from a sincere pursuit of God.  He promises us in Jeremiah 29:13 that if we seek Him with all our heart, we will find Him.  As you approach God today, come to Him with all you have, with all your heart, all your mind, all your soul and all your strength.  Lay down your will because it's your will that keeps you from doing what His word tells you to do.  Trust the Lord to heal and strengthen you from yesterday's trials and to take care of whatever tomorrow holds...He can do it.  He is that awesome!  Give God the reins and He will lead you to lead others as you love them with His love.

No one will be able to stand against you all the days of your life. As I was with Moses, so I will be with you; I will never leave you nor forsake you. Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their ancestors to give them. ~Joshua 1:5-6 (NIV)

Who are you showing a “half-hearted” love towards today? Have you received God’s “full-hearted” love for yourself?
