Give God the glory by giving God the credit

Sing to the Lord, for He has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world.  Shout aloud and sing for joy, people of Zion, for great is the Holy One of Israel among you. ~Isaiah 12:5-6 (NIV)

We must be determined to enjoy the abundant life that Jesus Christ wants for us to have.  Oftentimes we let ourselves get upset about the little things that aren’t going to matter much with some time.  There is a pretty good chance that the issues you are dealing with today are not going to be the same issues you are dealing with a year from today.  Every day brings new challenges and also new opportunities to trust in God’s great love toward us.  Some challenges last though seasons of our lives and some are short lived but one thing we can be confident of is that in this world, no matter what day or hour it is, there are going to be “issues” we have to go through.  We have an enemy, and he would love nothing more than for Christians to be upset, mad or outright miserable as much as possible because that affects our witness to others of the goodness of God.  He doesn’t want us walking in continual love, forgiveness, and mercy.  He wants us to live “eye for an eye”.  Our enemy spreads discord like butter on a biscuit.  If he can get you mad at your brother, your neighbor or you coworker then he can get you to say and do things that cause you to step outside God’s perfect will for your life and when you do, he will bring guilt and shame to lock the door of your heart to receive God’s love, mercy and forgiveness.  The Lord tells us in 1 Peter 4:8 “Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers a multitude of sins.” (NIV)   He also addresses the subject in James 5:19-20 telling us “If someone should wander from the truth and someone should bring that person back, remember this: whoever turns a sinner from the error of their ways will save them from death and cover a multitude of sins.” (NIV)  Wouldn’t you rather be that person that walks in love no matter what?

When we make up our mind that nothing is going to get us into strife or discord today, we have a much better chance of being an inspiration and encouragement for others.  The bible teaches us in Isaiah 12 that “He has done glorious things; let this be known to all the world”.  God has done glorious things for you and me and He continues to do them for us every day.  We need to share that with the world instead of what everybody else is doing to us today.  We need to spend our time and energy in praise giving God the credit for all the wonderful things He does for us.  Wouldn’t you rather spend your time and energy giving God the glory verses focusing on the challenges or challenging people in your life?  Pay attention to those little things that are stealing your joy, whether it is your own impatience or even someone with an unfriendly attitude.  You have the ability to choose whether you are going to let those things get to you or if you are going to keep a joyful and grateful heart.  Sing to the Lord when you find yourself in an unpleasant situation.  When you do this, you experience the presence of the Lord, because God inhabits the praise of His people!

But you are holy, you who inhabit the praises of Israel. ~Psalm 22:3 (WEB)
